Doesn't look like anyone is going to any RBJ forums, old or new. I've lurked but haven't posted because I've dealt with personal issues over the past year.
I haven't been blogging regularly, either. I still like to write, but I've had to prioriti...
Hmmm. I dunno if its passe as much as my time and effort are being focused in other directions. I still post from time to time on my blog but it is infrequent. In fact, I've found that some of my regular readers (I know, right???) are finding me o...
There was a good discussion on This Week in Google the other day about blogging, and they were saying that it is still important in at least one aspect: you retain control over the content and the rights to ownership. If you do all of your posting...
I get the same impression re: blogging nowadays - kind of sad really. It's as disconcerting as waking up in the middle of the night disorientated.. except it's worse because you know that times have really changed. Everything nowadays seems to run...
Transformers 2. Ninety minutes of it was entertaining. An hour was incredibly dull though. Seriously, was this a Department of Defense commercial or something with all that needless army crap. Not a big Megan Fox fan either. She reminds me of a ve...
Haha - glad you enjoyed the link! The "check internal organs for weakness" always reminds me of the natural talent of any cat to know when your bladder is full and then come and sit on *that* spot in the morning.
yeah he did them a lot at first, noticed that too. so i dunno... can't imagine it NOT hurting even a little bit. for self defense, it is like a 2nd/3rd resort tactic (1st always is a groin attack); one of those "do anything you can" attacks. normally if your attacker is behind you with a bearhug or choke you have that available. and by choke i mean like a 2 hand choke/strangulation, rather than a rear naked choke... you know as much as i that you're pretty much f'd in that case. although there is a pluck for a standing carotid choke where you use 2 hands and drop your weight to releive pressure.
sort of... we learn groundfighting techniques and some submissions, but the focus is to get off the ground or at least to a dominant position ASAP if the fight goes to the ground (typically the case, right?). Everything we train is worst case, so even if you are a wizard on the ground, your attacker's buddy could come up from behind you and stomp you out while applying an arm bar. So takedown defense or getting to guard are most important, much like MMA.
the striking is like anything you see in MMA but our stance is much more squared up so that all of your weapons can strike instantly, and so you can turn to any direction with max efficiency to deal with threats from behind or the side. One philosophy that is different from MMA is "never back up." You always want to drive forward to beat down your attacker, not only to end the fight quickly but also to not give him time to draw a weapon. There is a particular dominant position in the standup, like a modified clinch where one hand is wrapped around the neck while the other pins a bicep. Knees to the groin are delivered from there.
The choke/bearhug/escape techniques are all street; you'd never see them in MMA. All chokes are met with an explosive plucking motion to relive pressure to your windpipe or carotid, even for just a split second, while a groin strike with either hand or foot is given simultaneously. And it's all based on instinct; for example, if a bug lands on your shoulder, you instinctively swat at it, right? So when a choke comes on, we instinctively move our hands to it. Krav just expands on that and makes it an explosive move. But that's just scratching the surface. They tell us to scratch, bite, foot stomp, etc... use whatever weapons are available on the targets that are closest.
Then there are defenses against knife, stick, and guns of all types. Fun stuff. :) sorry for the long post, but i could go on all day about this stuff, just like you can with BJJ.
you know, i've never even become addicted to anything... only drug i really use is mentats when i don't have enough lockpick or science to tackle a door/terminal. maybe i'll start jetting with my evil bitch character. :)
nice... yeah silent running has been really good to me, plus having 100 sneak is just ridiculous sometimes. enemies pass right in front of me and don't go red.
do you use ledeux's hockey mask? +25 AP, plus action girl/boy, plus the drug that gives you even more AP (is it psycho?)... i guess if you have grim reaper sprint then you can just stay in vats and clear out a whole room of enemies? sounds like you've been doing this; i have yet to try it.
i'm now really interested in the pitt... wonder how big it will be. even though anchorage was pretty much on rails, it was a nice size. hope the pitt lets us roam around at least 5x5 squares.
i had a lot of fun playing a beefed up tank character with companions. on the PS3 i built a character with 100 energy weapons (a321's plasma rifle is my favorite weapon, plus wazer wifle for long range sniping) 100 explosives, 10 endurance, perks like toughness, adamantium skeleton, etc that are meant to up your DR, tesla power armor. just forgot about sneak and went in guns blazing. having companions helped tho. Jericho has 100 big guns and i gave him eugene and a shishkebab, plus the t51b power armor. fawkes does pretty well with his/her own gatling laser.
on my third run i'm doing an evil ninja-type, building up sneak, small guns, melee and unarmed. getting perks like light step, mr sandman, etc. going to go crazy with the chinese stealth armor once i do the anchorage sim with this build.
I think you already told me some of the builds you've been doing; care to elaborate? any fancy weird builds you've tried?
