the greatest fight scenes, EVER (your input most welcome)

So my lady was watching Batman Begins, and I caught the last 30 min or so. Right at the part where they start gassing up the Narrows, and Batman confronts Liam Neeson's character, and he has to fight 4 ninja henchmen dudes. Here I thought I was getting ready to watch an incredible fight... and it sucked monkey balls. wtf. You couldn't tell what the hell was happening at any time during that abortion. It was just a jumbled bunch of blurry off-centered motion and close-ups of someone punching or k… Continue

back to the future in the past

Tonight, while doing menial tasks like folding laundry, I watched Back to the Future II in it's entirety.

The movie is good but not great like the first one, yet I was deer-in-headlights entranced for the full 2+ hours. Before that I watched almost all of The Running Man.

Why is it that I would rather watch movies that I've seen time and time again, rather than something current? I wonder how many people do the same thing... must be a lot, or else these old movies wouldn't be shown on tv. But… Continue

i'm going to jinx myself for saying this

but i (thankfully) have not been adversely affected by the country's financial situation. i hope everyone here is doing well, not just in the states but wherever you are. i've still got my job and am in no danger of losing it. my property value is still above what i owe, and i don't have bills that i cannot pay.

to all the people i know who have been hit hard by this thing, just know that i'm thinking about you and i know you'll get through it.

My new favorite comic

Kevin Avery is hilarious. But the best thing about him is that he makes references to all the things i loved as a youth growing up (and still love). Check him out here.

I thought the fight scenes in the Bourne Trilogy were terrific.

+1 Fist of Legend. Particularly enjoy the hilarious opening fight scene in the classroom and the bit where Jet Li fights his Si-hing. I was obsessed with Hong Kong films right through my teens. As far as fight scenes go, these spring to mind: - end…

Good call on that particular Matrix fight. It was like a classic live-action painting somehow. Another of my favorite fights was in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, the part where Max meets Auntie Entity and gets "auditioned." It's not anything special…

scott: i know you've talked about some of these as well - FoL and DMII in their entirety (entireties?) are amazing pieces of work. The chun li/balrog scenes is the one you are referring to (three thumbs up what? haha), i just like how she was gettin…

I just tried The Pitt DLC. Even with 100 in Unarmed, my usual run-and-punch everyone in the face strategy didn't last too long. It seems to work better with 50+ stimpacks I guess. Try again later.

I can't read your Greatest Fight Scene post? Did you remove it?

Interesting post about Krav Maga, Mark, thanks.
One tiny thing I've wondered from watching TUF -- are foot stomps effective? I remember Chris Leban would do them all the time, and his opponent was like WTF.

Mark, do you see many Krav Maga techniques in MMA, or is Krav Maga suited for more self-defense/combat situations?

Dang, every other time I used Jet or something, I'd get the "addicted to Jet" line.

Today, I finally got all my skills up to 100. Read 228 skill books. Probably found 250. I'm taking a break for awhile, haha.

Oh yeah, I get Ledoux's mask as soon as I can with each character. I was glad you could wear it with the Sneak armor (but damn, repairing that suit gets expensive). I tend to avoid the drugs. I get annoyed with the withdrawal/addiction effects and having to go back home to detox. I will use them if I'm surrounded by Talon/Regulators though.

I'm back to playing Fallout3 on the 360. The graphics are just a lot better on the 360 compared to my old PC. The only downside is I can't get the cool screenshots and sexy face/hair mods.

I think I'm on my 7th character. I really prefer the Unarmed + Explosives build, with the Fisto. You can use a Deathclaw with Unarmed and it seems to do better damage (it ignores DR) but I prefer those giant robot punches.

I'm trying to make a character with 100 in all skills. I almost got it with my PC character but I came up short in the "social" skills. This time I'm keeping track of every skill book I have/have not found. Here's my plotted perk list:

- Intense Training - Str, Int, Luck. The other perks at levels 1-3 are wasteful to me.
- Comprehension - a MUST for maxing out your skills.
- Iron Fist x 3 and Demolitions x 3 - Essential for Unarmed/Explosive build.
- Animal Friend - A lot of people hate this because of the Cha 6 requirement but it is a huge hassle-reducer when you can ignore Yao Guais while exploring. Even at level 1 they will attack my enemies too. Who needs Level 2.
- Mysterious Stranger - Hard time deciding between this or Tough which is good too.
- Finesse, Action Girl, Better Crits - essential
- Strong Back - Big hassle-reducer and time-saver for me.
- Entomologist - Hassle-reducer for Gt Radscorpions since I like to explore.
- Cyborg - Like Tough with bonuses.
- Silent Running - I'm not a sneaker but this is pretty awesome. You still have crouch-run full speed and wear/carry whatever you want. Awesome sneak attack damage. Maybe I don't need it with the sneak armor though.
- I almost got Paralyzing Palm. It works in/out of VATS and will stun like 1/3-1/4 of the time. Toggling weapons on/off gets old though.
- Grim Reaper - I contemplated the Ninja perk but I use VATS a lot and you're practically invulnerable in VATS so....
